Этот объект расположен к северу от полузасушливых Великих равнин Северной Америки на границе между Канадой и Соединенными Штатами Америки. Долина реки Милк занимает центральное место в топографии этого культурного ландшафта, характеризующегося многочисленными высокими тонкими колоннами худу изумительной формы, образованными вследствие эрозии почвы. Песчаники, расположенные вдоль реки Милк, украшены уникальными гравюрами и петроглифами, оставленными народом Блэкфут (Siksikáíítsitapi). Эти наскальные изображения служили народу Блэкфут средством общения со священными духами. Археологические остатки, найденные на территории этого объекта, относятся к периоду от 1800 г. до н. э. до начала постконтактного периода. Блэкфут считают этот ландшафт священным, что отражается в их многовековых традициях уважения к данному месту и церемониальных обрядах.

Der Provincial Park ist echt ein Besuch wert! Empfehlenswert ist, an einer Führung teilzunehmen und sich von einem First Nation die Gegend und die Geschichte erklären zu lassen. Und was uns noch speziell gefreut hat: eine Woche vor unserem Besuch wurde der Provincial Park zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe erklärt! Tolle Sache! Und ja, es kann Schlangen haben und man wird davor gewarnt. Aber wir haben keine gesehen.
Been a few times and it never gets old, lots of good history is told and a great museum there as well. The native people sure knew how to use the land and animals so they could survive. They have great stories to share and answers for your questions. This is a UNESCO world heritage site so don’t miss out!
Absolutely gorgeous gem in very southern Alberta. Absolutely watch out for rattlesnakes and dress appropriately. We saw one and after warning other guests were told they had also seen some. The scenery is beyond amazing as sandstone features will go. The museum is nice and the star are friendly. This is well worth the drive. Lots of picturesque opportunities.
This place is amazing! The sights are breathtaking. Lots of snakes though! My husband almost stepped on one curled up on the stairs going down a path so watch your step while hiking!
Spectacular scenery, nice safe family campground. Most likely as a result of parts of this park being protected world heritage site there is a lot of law enforcement presence. The conservation officers are generally very nice, very friendly and assuming your are willing to meet them half way, forgiving of minor problems. However the hourly patrols do start to feel a little oppressive. This is also the hottest and driest part of the province, with a fairly significant amount of biting insects. Other than this, it is a very nice campsite with a unique beach that is, with proper parental supervision, very child friendly. Please if you have very small children wearing life jackets keep in mind that while not deep, the river was a very fast current. In general absolutely must be visited at least once. A walk through the maze of weather carved sandstone formations is unlike anything else we have ever seen and must be experienced.
